Volunteers extracted around 15 metric tonnes of solid waste as part of the Bagmati Mega Clean-up Campaign which reached its 184th week on Saturday.
Chief Secretary Som Lal Subedi, Secretary Deependra Nath Sharma and former secretary duo Kishor Thapa and Keshab Bhattarai, other government officials, security personnel from Nepal Police and the Armed Police Force and locals participated in the clean-up campaign near Thapathali area on Saturday.
The campaign was launched on May 18, 2013 at the initiative of former chief secretary Leela Mani Paudyal.
Last week, campaigners bid farewell to Paudyal who has taken up his new assignment as Nepal’s ambassador to China.
