Youth killed in muzzleloader misfire in Doti
Police say incident occurred while electrical wiring was underway in a house in Bogatan Fudsil Rural MunicipalityBarun Paneru
A 30-year-old man died after a muzzleloader went off in Bogatan Fudsil Rural Municipality–1, Laphada village, on Wednesday evening.
The deceased has been identified as Kalem Dhami, according to the District Police Office, Doti.
Police said the incident occurred while electrical wiring was being carried out on the top floor of a three-storey house belonging to local resident Durga Singh Kudmal. A muzzleloader kept inside a room reportedly discharged suddenly.
Pellets from the gun struck Dhami on the left side of his forehead, leaving him critically injured. He died on the spot, police said.
Locals informed police about the incident at around 1am. A team led by Assistant Sub-Inspector Rambhadur Karki reached the site soon after.
On Thursday morning, another team led by Police Inspector Nawaraj Rawal was deployed from the District Police Office for further investigation.
Police said further investigation into the incident is underway.
