Four people were killed, and 12 others were injured in a bus accident in Dadeldhura district on Tuesday night.

The passenger bus, en route from Mahendranagar to Purchaudi in Baitadi, crashed at Khasrekhan in ward 7 of Amargadhi Municipality, according to state-run Rastriya Samachar Samiti.

Two women, a man, and an infant died at the scene, said Police Inspector Upendra Bahadur Bam of the District Police Office, Dadeldhura.

The victims have been identified as 45-year-old Jayamati Bohara, 20-year-old Kamala Bohara, her infant son, and 22-year-old Sahadev Bohara, all residents of Purchaudi Municipality-3 in Baitadi.

Bus driver Birendra Bohara, who sustained critical injuries, has been taken to Dhangadhi for treatment. Police Inspector Bam said the other injured passengers are being treated at Dadeldhura Hospital.

Authorities suspect the driver fell asleep, leading to the crash.
