Body of girl missing in Darchula avalanche recovered

Police on Wednesday recovered the body of a girl who had been missing following an avalanche in Darchula on May 2.
The body of a 15-year-old girl, who was one of the five people buried in the avalanche that occurred in the Byas Rural Municipality, was recovered on Wednesday evening.
Police personnel from the Armed Police Force No.50 and Sitapul Police Station had been actively searching for the missing person.
The body of the Jorayal Rural Municipality-2 local was found some 200 metres from the spot where police had earlier recovered the bodies of four victims.
According to District Police Office information officer Gyanendra Bahadur Singh, the victim’s body has been brought to Khalanga district headquarters on Thursday via the Indian route.
The body will be handed to the victim’s family after the postmortem at the district hospital.
Four women and a man were buried in the avalanche at Bhomin in Byas Rural Municipality of Darchula district on May 2. The incident had occurred in an area where a group of 12 people had set up a tent to collect yarsagumba.
According to Assistant Chief District Officer Pradip Singh Dhami, seven people from the group had escaped unharmed while the other five were buried by the avalanche.
