Go Dreamers, the company behind Dhangadhi FC, a club formed for the Nepal Super League, has partnered with Kathmandu Sports Development Ventures Pvt Ltd—the company behind Nepal Premier League (NPL) side Kathmandu Gorkhas—to form a new joint venture named Sudurpaschim Sports Ventures.
Announced on Friday, the newly established entity will feature equal investment from Dhangadhi FC founder Subash Shahi and Kathmandu Sports Development Ventures.
Dr Upendra Mahoto has been appointed as the chairman of Sudurpashchim Sports Ventures, with Subash Shahi serving as director and Anubhav Swar Sirohiya as executive director. Additional members are expected to be inducted into the board soon.
Founded six years ago under the Go Dreamers umbrella, Dhangadhi FC have established themselves as a competitive force in the franchise-based NSL, finishing as runners-up in the first two editions and reaching the playoffs in the third. Through the newly formed venture, Dhangadhi FC will compete in the newly announced Nepal Football League while scaling up investments in grassroots and women's football development.
“The influx of investment at this juncture sends a massive positive message to Nepali football,” said Shahi. “I warmly welcome Kathmandu Sports Development Ventures. This partnership demonstrates that Nepali football holds immense potential. I believe such corporate alliances will pave the way for other clubs, while also unlocking tourism and holistic development avenues for Sudurpashchim.”
Sirohiya echoed similar sentiments, highlighting their strategic expansion from cricket into football.
“Having made substantial investments in cricket through Kathmandu Sports Development Ventures, our expansion into football via Dhangadhi FC marks a significant milestone,” Sirohiya said. “Football is Nepal’s most popular sport, and we are entering this space with the objective of driving its growth and popularity further.”
