Army’s women lift National Hockey Championship
Army defeated Gandaki Province 3-0 in the final league-stage game to accumulate nine points and emerge as the champions.

The Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) lifted the National Hockey Championship in the women’s category on Monday. TAC finished the tournament unbeaten and at the top of the table.
Army defeated Gandaki Province 3-0 in the final league-stage game to accumulate nine points and emerge as the champions. Meanwhile, it was the first loss for Gandaki; they finished second in the championship.
Likewise, Madhesh Province finished third while Bagmati was fourth in the event between four teams. The first three teams received a purse of Rs75,000, Rs50,000 and Rs25,000, respectively.
Similarly, Army’s Kamala Chand was the highest goal scorer with five goals; and Army’s Nilima Pandey was adjudged the best player of the tournament.
Also, Madhesh’s Khusbu Kumari was the emerging player. Gandaki’s Anisha Thapa Magar and Sonu Baral were the tournament’s best goalkeeper and defender, respectively. (PR)
