Medal winners of CAVA volleyball tournaments rewarded
The players of the national women’s volleyball team who won silver medal at the CAVA Women’s Volleyball Nations League in Kathmandu earlier this month were rewarded with Rs102,000 each.Sports Bureau
Nepal Volleyball Association on Saturday awarded cash prizes to the four volleyball teams who won medals at various Central Asian Volleyball Association (CAVA) tournaments.
The association honoured the team members of gold and silver medallists of CAVA Beach Volleyball, silver medallists of CAVA Women’s Volleyball Nations League and bronze medallists of CAVA U-20 Women’s Volleyball Championship amid a function in Kathmandu.
The players of the national women’s volleyball team who won silver medal at the CAVA Women’s Volleyball Nations League in Kathmandu earlier this month were rewarded with Rs102,000 each. Captain Aruna Shahi’s team had also made history by defeating India for the first time in their volleyball history during the group stage of the tournament. However, their hopes to win a first major trophy at home remained unfulfilled after they lost to the Indians in the final.
Women’s volleyball head coach Jagadhish Bhatta also bagged Rs102,000, while assistant coach Bharat Yadav received Rs92,000. Physio Lokendra Kunwar and manager Nilam Bajracharya got Rs82,000 each.
Kamala Pun and Manisha Chaudhary were provided with Rs60,000 each for winning the gold medal at the CAVA Beach Volleyball in Bhutan.
Man Bahadur Shrestha and Dil Bahadur Sunar’s pair, who won silver in beach volleyball in Bhutan, were honoured with Rs30,000 each.
Coach Rupesh Bista, who coached both men’s and women’s beach volleyball teams, got Rs40,000.
The members of U-20 volleyball team, who secured bronze medal at CAVA U-20 Women’s Volleyball Championship, got Rs15,000 each.
