Samrakshyak Bhusan Bajracharya and Mayanka Rana clinched the singles titles of the first National Open Lawn Tennis Championship on Wednesday.

In a marathon men’s final clash that lasted over three hours, Bajracharya rallied from a set down to beat Kamal Bhandari 4-6, 7-5, 6-4. Santosh Khatri and Nabin Pun finished joint third in the tournament organised by Lalitpur District Lawn Tennis Association.

Rana also overcame the first set debacle to defeat Ira Rawat 6-7, 6-2, 6-3 in the ladies’ singles final which too lasted more than three hours. Mahika Rana and Bhagwati BK ended up joint third. It was second title for Mayanka after also securing double gold by teaming up with sister Mahika. The pair of Bibhuti Karki and Bijisha Shrestha finished third.

Sriram Magar and Kamal Bhandari beat Samrakshyak and Mahesh Chhetri to lift the men’s doubles championship. The pair of Santosh Khatri and Aatmaram Karki shared the third place with the pair of Shakti Sharma and Anil Shahi. The champions walked away with Rs 20,000 while the runners-up received Rs 10,000 each.
