A guide was killed, and two others, including an American tourist, were injured in a rhino attack at Shiva Community Forest in Madhuwan Municipality, Bardiya, on Friday morning.

The incident occurred around 8 am while the group of three was touring the forest, police said.

Superintendent of Police Pravin Dhital identified the deceased as 35-year-old Manmohan Chaudhary, a guide from ward 9 of Thakurbaba Municipality. Chaudhary died on the spot while trying to save the tourist from the rhino.

The injured, including forest guard Khichhu Tharu, were rushed to a municipal hospital in Thakurdwara for treatment. While Tharu is in stable condition, the American tourist has sustained serious injuries, police said.

According to local resident Parashuram Chaudhary, the group encountered a rhino with a calf, which led to the attack.
