At least six locals were injured in a leopard attack in Madhyabindu Municipality-8 of Nawalparasi East district on Thursday.

The leopard was killed by the villagers after it ran amok, attacking residents.

According to local Dhan Prasad Pandey, the leopard entered a house on Wednesday. On Thursday morning, it emerged and attacked villagers before hiding in a field.

Locals reported the incident to the District Police and District Forest Office, but even after six hours, no rescue team arrived. In response, the villagers tried to drive the leopard away by hitting it with sticks and stones, which resulted in its death.

“We heard that the leopard injured six people,” said Basanta Adhikari, chief of the Division Forest Office. “A rescue team was on its way when we came to know that locals killed it.”
