Bagmati Provincial Assembly begins its second term

The second term of the Bagmati Provincial Assembly has begun after the first meeting of the newly-elected Assembly took place on Monday.
The first meeting has passed the proposal to conduct assembly meetings by adopting the Bagmati Provincial Assembly Rules 2018 (First Amendment) by the majority.
The meeting presided over by Ram Prasad Dhungana, the oldest lawmaker of the Assembly, fixed the date for the election of Speaker and Deputy Speaker at 11 am January 13.
Meanwhile, five ordinances have been tabled in the Assembly.
Outgoing Minister of Internal Affairs and Law Krishna Prasad Sharma Khanal has tabled the Ordinance related to providing for the formation, operation and conditions of service of the provincial civil service 2022 and the Ordinance related to providing for the formation and operation of local level services 2022.
Similarly, outgoing Culture and Tourism Minister Dipendra Shrestha has tabled the ordinance to amend the Provincial Health Services Act 2018; outgoing Agriculture and Livestock Development Minister Bashundhara Humagain the Ordinance to make provisions regarding the agricultural development of the province 2022; and outgoing Industry, Commerce and Supplies Minister Milan Babu Shrestha the Ordinance to make arrangements for the establishment and operation of province handicraft villages.
The Assembly has nominated Urmila Nepal, Bharati Pathak, Thakur Prasad Dhakal, Lakshmi Ghimire and Rajendra Man Shrestha to preside over the meeting in the absence of the Speaker and the Deputy Speaker in accordance with Rule 11 (1) of the Bagmati Provincial Assembly Rules 2018 (First Amendment). The second meeting of the Provincial Assembly has been scheduled for 11 am January 13.
