Rastriya Swatantra Party’s Hari Dhakal elected from Chitwan-1
Dhakal defeats former finance minister Surendra Pandey by a margin of 7,581 votes.Post Report
Hari Dhakal, a candidate of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, has been elected from Chitwan-1 defeating former finance minister Surendra Pandey and ex-National Planning Commission chair Bishwanath Paudel.
Dhakal received 34,189 votes to secure a seat in the House of Representatives. His closest competitor Surendra Pandey of CPN-UML got 26,608 votes, according to the District Election Office.
Paudel of the Nepali Congress, who was a common candidate from the ruling alliance, got 24,990 votes as per the final results.
Pandey was elected from the constituency in the second constituent assembly elections and in the 2017 polls. Paudel was the vice chairperson of the National Planning Commission where he worked for 14 months before resigning.
Earlier today, Rastriya Swatantra Party Chair Rabi Lamichhane was elected a House of Representatives member from Chitwan-2.
Lamichhane won the election defeating his closest rival Umesh Shrestha of the Nepali Congress by a margin of 34,170 votes. Lamichhane received 49,261 votes while Shrestha got 15,091 votes.
