The police arrested an absconding defendant for banking fraud from Bouddha of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-6 on August 8.

Hemanta Rai, 37-year-old, of Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality-12, Jalapa has been arrested. According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Purushottam Khadka, Rai has been brought to Khotang for further investigation with an extension of the custody period of seven days.

He was arrested based on a complaint filed by Roshan Sainju of Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality-1.

Rai had issued a cheque of Rastriya Banijya Bank, on November 24, 2023, worth three lakh rupees which got bounced many times due to insufficient money in the account. He had signed it for Khotang Autolink Pvt Ltd in Diktel for the purchase of a 220 cc motorcycle (Province 1-05-001 Pa 8661).
