Four rescued, eleven missing after landslide sweeps away nine houses in Sankhuwasabha

Four people have been rescued while eleven others have gone missing after a landslide at Besinda village in Silichong Rural Municipality Ward No. 1, Sisuwakhola in Sankhuwasabha district swept away nine houses on Sunday morning.
“Eleven individuals have gone missing in the landslide,” said Deputy Superintendent Nabaraj Malla.
“Four people have been rescued by the villagers,” said Hastaman Rai, a local.
“Police from Sisuwa and Tamku have been mobilised towards the incident site,” said Malla “It is still raining in the area and we are yet to receive complete details about the incident.”
Personnel from Baraha Dal Battalion of Army, Armed Police Force and Nepal Police stationed at the district headquarters, Khandbari, have been dispatched to the site to carry out search and rescue works, said Malla.
However, it will take at least 12 hours to reach the village which is remote and not connected to road networks, added Malla.
Teams of health workers and the Army are also on their way to the village from Tamku.
