The Nepali Congress has decided to add a senior vice-president and a woman vice-president, while increasing the number of general secretaries to three.
A meeting of the party’s Central Working Committee held at Khula Manch, the venue of its 15th General Convention, made the decision shortly before the convention’s formal proceedings began on Monday.
The party has also decided that at least one of its general secretaries and one of its vice-presidents must be women.
It will add two open-category joint general secretaries, taking the total number of joint general secretaries to 13 from the current 11.
The number of vice-presidents will rise to four, including the senior vice-president. The party also decided to increase the number of members of its Central Working Committee.
The first proposal to be presented at Monday’s closed-door session will be a draft amendment to the party statute, which will incorporate the changes to its organisational structure.
