Today, Kantipur Publications completes the third decade of its journey and steps into the fourth. In a country like ours where the democratic space opened up rather late and is still not fully open, Kantipur has overcome many challenges to continually play the role of the leading media house for 30 successive years. Behind this success are all those who have been involved with the organisation in different capacities at different times. As important has been the continued support of different sections of society. On this occasion, we would like to recall that Kantipur’s vision of establishing a robust media industry and laying the foundation for professional journalism was realised only because of our collective commitment. Our heartfelt thanks to our valued readers, hard-working journalists and employees, enthusiastic sellers/distributors, helpful advertisers/agencies, plus millions of our well-wishers spread around the world.
Globally, the trend of misinformation, disinformation and populist politics is thriving. We can see some evidence of this even in our own country. In this condition, no professional media organisation can afford to forsake its responsibility of giving reliable news and balanced views. Kantipur remains steadfast in its commitment to always standing in favour of what is right and true. We will never compromise on this.
Kantipur has wholly embraced the spirit of democracy, federalism and republicanism. As you are aware, we extensively covered the second general elections following the promulgation of the new constitution. We have also been organising different provincial-level programmes in order to strengthen federalism. Moreover, we have undertaken extensive discussions encompassing different sections of society. This is part of our effort to take important issues directly to the people, in addition to our daily responsibility of informing you through our print and online media outlets.
The Nepali economy that was badly shaken by the Covid pandemic is yet to recover fully. We too are not immune to its impact. But Kantipur Publications has always seen a silver lining in the darkest of clouds. It is because of our belief in our ability to overcome any adversity that we have been able to surmount every obstacle placed on our way in the past three decades, and we will continue to do so in the future. In the same spirit, we also firmly believe that the country will be able to overcome its existing problems and move ahead on the path of development, progress and prosperity. Come, let us all join hands in this collective endeavour.
In the end, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Kantipur Publications, we would again like to share this moment of happiness with all of you.
