Locals resorted to protests in Chandrapur in Rautahat district on Friday, demanding action against those responsible for the “rape and death” of Inisa BK.
Organised under the leadership of local Sanjib Bishwokarma, the protestors held a rally at the office of Chandrapur Municipality, marched through Chapur Trikoranatmak Chowk, and then converged into a protest gathering.
The Chandrapur locals resorted to protest to build pressure on the government to book the guilty in the death of Inisa. They carried placards with slogans “government, until when rape goes unpunished”, “hang rapists”, “give justice to Inisa”, “safeguard women’s rights” and “stop violence against women!”.

Addressing the protest meet, Bishwokarma cited several incidents in which victims were denied timely justice. He said the protest was launched to put public pressure on the state to ensure the guilty would not escape punishment.
“Delayed justice is like denied justice,” he said, demanding an impartial investigation into the incident and stern action against the guilty.
He urged the state to be sensitive, warning that justice might be delayed or the incident covered up, just on the condition that Inisa belonged to a Dalit community.
On March 7, BK, a resident of Gurbhakot Municipality-6 in Surkhet, was found unconscious in the Janajagaran Community Forest in Birendranagar-4. Police and locals rushed her to the Provincial Hospital in Kalagaun, where doctors declared her dead.
