Family members and relatives of a 16-year-old Inisha BK staged demonstrations in Surkhet, demanding a fair investigation into her death.
The family claimed that BK was raped before being killed.
BK, a resident of Gurbhakot Municipality-6 in Surkhet, was found unconscious in the Janajagaran Community Forest in Birendranagar-4. Her relatives rushed her to the Provincial Hospital in Kalagaun where doctors declared her dead.
The agitators took out a rally in Birendranagar, chanting slogans such as “Stop rape, murder and violence against children,” “Give justice to Inisha,” and “Punish the murderer”.
BK had been living in Birendranagar-1 and was a Grade 11 student at a local school. According to the family, she had left home in the morning on March 7, saying she was going to attend practical classes. But later that day, she was found unconscious in the forest and died the same day.
Meanwhile, the police arrested four people on charges of involvement in her death. A 16-year-old boy was arrested on the afternoon of March 7 following the incident, and three others were taken into custody on March 8 during further investigation.
