National Assembly members Narayankaji Shrestha, Bamdev Gautam and Bhagwati Neupane have resigned from the upper house.
They submitted their resignations to National Assembly chair Narayan Prasad Dahal after deciding to contest the House of Representatives elections.
Neupane is contesting from Tanahun–1 as a CPN-UML candidate. Shrestha is running from Sarlahi–3 on a Nepali Communist Party ticket. Gautam, who was defeated from Bardiya–1 in the last parliamentary elections, is again contesting from the same constituency under the Nepali Communist Party banner.
Political parties are busy finalising candidates for the elections scheduled for March 5. Candidates are required to file their nominations on Tuesday.
