Man dies after assault over crop damage dispute in Bardiya

A 55-year-old man has died after being assaulted in a dispute over crop damage in Madhuwan Municipality-1, Bardiya district. The victim, Dhukkur Raut of Pattharbojhi, succumbed to his injuries four days after the incident.
The altercation occurred at around 11 am on Sunday, when 35-year-old Krishnaramji Yadav of Gulariya Municipality-7 allegedly struck Raut on the head with a stick. The incident followed a dispute after Yadav’s buffalo damaged crops in Raut’s field.
According to Inspector Krishna Dangi of the District Police Office in Gulariya, Raut sustained serious head injuries and was immediately referred to a nursing home in neighbouring Banke district for treatment.
Despite medical efforts, he was pronounced dead by doctors at around 3:30 pm on Thursday.
Police have taken Yadav into custody for further investigation.
“We have detained the suspect and the investigation is underway,” Inspector Dangi confirmed.
