The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) detained a municipal officer of Pokhara Metropolitan City on bribery charges on Thursday. The anti-graft body arrested Kapil Giri for accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000.
He was caught red-handed near the municipal office in New Road while receiving money from a service seeker.
Giri, responsible for handling complaints and coordination in the metropolis, allegedly demanded Rs100,000 to settle a case.
According to Rakesh Pandey, information officer at CIAA Pokhara office, the suspect fabricated complaints and deceived victims by showing fake evidence. Further investigation is underway, says CIAA.
