Police in Baitadi arrested two men in connection with separate cases of alleged rape involving minors. The suspects, aged 25 and 30, are accused of sexually assaulting two teenage girls in different incidents, according to local authorities.
In the first case, a 25-year-old man from Melauli Municipality was arrested on Sunday for allegedly raping a 16-year-old girl. The incident reportedly occurred in July 2023. The suspect is currently in custody at the Area Police Office in Patan, Baitadi.
In a separate incident, a 30-year-old man from Shivanath Rural Municipality was arrested on the same day for allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl. The assault took place in January.
Inspector Baldev Badu, spokesperson for Baitadi District Police Office, confirmed the arrests and stated that the identities of the suspects are being withheld to protect the victims from further harm. Both suspects have been remanded for 10 days by the court to allow for further investigation.
