Rajendra Mahato announces new party
Party to register at Election Commission in October; Mahato to serve as founding president.Post Report
Rajendra Mahato, the coordinator of Rastriya Mukti Kranti, has officially announced the formation of a new political party. The declaration was made during a meeting of the front in Kathmandu on Tuesday.
Mahato revealed that the party, Rastriya Mukti Kranti Nepal, will proceed with the registration process at the Election Commission during the second week of October. He also confirmed that he will serve as the party president.
This announcement comes seven months after Mahato quit the Loktantrik Samajbadi Party. On February 26, then senior leader of the party, Mahato, announced a new front. At a press conference in Kathmandu, Mahato had announced quitting the party.
One of the influential leaders in Madhesh province, Mahato, has become a minister multiple times in various coalition governments in recent years.
Mahato, who was initially active as a Sadbhabana Party leader, joined the Tarai-Madhesh Loktantrik Party in 2007. He has been in national politics for over two decades as a lawmaker, minister and a key party leader in Madhesh-based parties.
