Kantipur journo Panday receives Press Council Youth Journalism Award

Jagdishor Panday, a journalist associated with Kantipur Daily, the Post’s sister publication, on Friday received the Press Council Youth Journalism Award for this year.
The award by Press Council Nepal, the media monitoring body in Nepal, each year honours a youth journalist making a significant contribution to the field of journalism.
The award, which carries a purse of Rs10,000, was handed over by Council Chairman Balkrishna Basnet to Panday on Friday. The award was supposed to be handed over by President Ramchandra Paudel to Panday last month along with winners of other categories. But Panday was out of the country for a United Nations Fellowship in New York, USA to cover the 78th General Assembly.
Panday, who is currently associated with the Kantipur Daily as a foreign affairs and defence correspondent, has been active in the field for over 12 years.
Moreover, the United Nations awarded Panday the Raham Al-Farra (RAF) Memorial Journalism Fellowship two times. In 2021 he got a fellowship to cover the UN event virtually and in 2023 he was awarded the same fellowship to cover it in person in New York.
