The government and the agitating teachers recruited under relief quota reached a five-point agreement held at the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology on Friday.
Following the agreement, the agitating teachers have withdrawn their protest programmes.
As per the agreement, the government has agreed to fill all seats of the temporary and relief quota through internal competitions for permanent posting.
In an earlier deal between the Nepal Teachers’ Federation and the government, it was agreed to fulfil 75 percent of the seats of the temporary and relief quota through internal competitions for one time. The government in the School Education Bill has proposed to fill 50 percent of teachers under the relief quota through internal competitions. But the teachers recruited under the category continued their agitation expressing their reservations over the agreement reached last week.
Talking to the media after the agreement, Minister for Education, Science and Technology Ashok Kumar Rai said that it was agreed to include left-out issues in the school education bill through a parliamentary process.
He promised that everything would be incorporated when the bill is presented in the Parliament.
