House meeting deferred until Sunday
The meeting deferred after opposition parties refuse to budge on ending obstruction.Post Report
The meeting of the House of Representatives has been deferred until Sunday as parties could not reach any agreement over lifting the obstruction.
Following the obstruction of the lower House by the three opposition parties, including the CPN-UML, on Wednesday, the House meeting had been postponed to 3pm on Friday.
However, the parties could not reach a common ground during the meeting of the business advisory committee held on Friday, after which the House meeting has once again been deferred until Sunday.
“The coalition government and the main opposition must sit down for talks again tomorrow and bring the dispute to a logical conclusion,” Speaker Dev Raj Ghimire said. “It is not good for the House to be obstructed for so long, especially when there are important issues like the loan-sharking bill that have yet to be concluded.”
