Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Tuesday recommended Advocate Dinmani Pokharel for the post of Attorney General, which is the post of chief legal adviser to the government.

Pokharel is scheduled to be sworn-in by President Bidya Devi Bhandari at Sheetal Niwas on Wednesday.

Pokharel, who has a PhD in law, is considered to be close to the Maoists.

The constitutional provision provides that the President appoints the Attorney General on the recommendation of the Prime Minister. Pokharel was previously the legal adviser to the then Speaker Onsari Gharti Magar.
