US Ambassador Thompson lauds Nepal Police’s role during polls

United States Ambassador to Nepal Dean R. Thompson on Friday called on Inspector General of Police (IGP) of Nepal Police Dhiraj Pratap Singh.
During the courtesy call at the Nepal Police Headquarters, Ambassador Thompson lauded the role of the Nepal Police in holding the elections in a free, fair and peaceful environment.
According to Nepal Police, Ambassador Thompson expressed the commitment of the US government to support the security body for training to police personnel and assisting in controlling cybercrime and crimes related to women and children.
Ambassador Thompson thanked the Nepal Police noting that American citizens feel safe in Nepal due to the policy adopted by the law enforcement agency to maintain public peace.
IGP Singh expressed his gratitude for the support from the US government and expressed his belief that such cooperation will continue in the future.
During the meeting, IGP Singh and Ambassador Thompson also discussed other issues of mutual interest.
Earlier on November 25, Thompson called on Inspector General of the Armed Police Force Raju Aryal and discussed Nepal-US bilateral relations and issues of mutual interest between the two countries.
Thompson had arrived in Kathmandu on October 13 to take up his new diplomatic assignment. He replaced Randy Berry, who was nominated as the new US envoy to Namibia.
