Nepali Congress clean sweeps Mustang

Nepali Congress has locked in the only constituency for federal polls and two constituencies for the provincial polls in Mustang district.
Congress’ Yogesh Gauchan won a House of Representatives seat, garnering 3,992 votes against CPN-UML candidate Prem Prasad Tulachan. Tulachan garnered 3,078 votes.
Namdu Gurung of the party secured a victory in Mustang (A) in the provincial polls with 1,048 votes. His competitor Indradhara Bista of UML garnered 793 votes.
Likewise, Bikal Sherchan won a provincial assembly seat in Mustang (B) with 2,723 votes against UML’s Chandra Mohan Gauchan who secured 2,565 votes.
Of the total 10,957 voters in the district, 7,259 voted in the elections held on Sunday.
UML was anticipated to sweep elections in the district based on the 2017 polls and May’s local polls.
