The municipality, in the first phase, has provided Rs 100,000 in cash to Anmol Thapa of Mangalsain-1; Kamal BK of Mangalsain-3; and Bharat Bhandari of Mangalsain-6. Bhandari is studying in Bangladesh while Thapa and BK are pursuing their MBBS in Bharatpur and Biratnagar respectively.
Mangalsain is the first among the 10 local units in Achham to provide financial help to medical students. Bohara said the municipality will provide such grants to students studing other disciplines in the future as well.
“The status of health service in the district is poor.
The municipality has provided support to its medical students in the hopes that they will provide their services to the people of our district in the future,” said Bohara.
The recipients of the educational grant have expressed their gratitude towards the municipality.
“Studying MBBS is expensive and the support provided by the municipality is really helpful. I am committed to providing service to the local people as expected by the municipality,” said Thapa.
