The Parliamentary Hearing Committee has started an investigation into Samim Miya Ansari, the chairman nominee of the National Muslim Commission. 

The House panel has decided to start the investigation following complaints that his citizenship and academic certificates were dubious and he was nominated to the post while he was also a member of a political party.

A meeting of the House committee, after analysing the complaints, decided on Tuesday to defer the hearing scheduled for Wednesday until the investigation is concluded.

Four complaints have been registered at the committee claiming that Ansari’s citizenship and academic credentials are forged and therefore he is unworthy for the position he has been nominated.

One of the complainants has claimed that Ansari was born in India.

According to initial investigations, he was found to have two different dates of birth and there were inconsistency in his birth dates mentioned in the certificate. While acquiring the citizenship certificate on January 6, 1999 from the District Administration Office, Kathmandu, he had mentioned his birth date as October 10, 1980. But while taking the copy of his citizenship certificate on August 25, 2009, his date of birth was mentioned as October 10, 1973.

It has been learnt that district administration’s registration book doesn't have the signature of Chief District Officer (CDO) when the copy of Ansari’s citizenship with number 07384/871 was issued.

According to a source, the name of CDO Yogendra Ojha was mentioned in the citizenship with number 870.

The citizenship certificate with no 871 has only ‘The’ written in the place of CDO’s name.

While acquiring citizenship in 1998, Ansari had mentioned his address as Kathmandu Metropolitan City-19 but while taking the copy of his citizenship he had mentioned his address as Kathmandu Metropolitan City-9.
