The number of students joining technical schools in Khotang is on the rise because of employment opportunities technical education offers.
Mahuregadhi Model Polytechnic School at Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality-13 has recently announced admission for a three-year diploma course in forestry. Likewise, Saraswati Secondary School has started classes on junior technical assistance on crop science. Forty students have enrolled for the 18-month course.
Jyoti Secondary School is also planning to begin a 18-month course on animal science from this year.
Officials said a growing number of students were interested in civil engineering, forestry, agriculture JTA, livestock JTA, micro enterprise facilitator, beautician and other technical education.
Headmaster of Pancha Secondary School Bhabakrishna Dhakal said several technical schools have been established in Khotang in the recent years because of the interest students have shown in technical field.
“Our education system produced unemployed human resource so far. So, need for the technical education is realized for the production of self-employed human resources,” he said.
