A police team formed to probe the road accident that killed three persons, including Deputy Inspector General of Nepal Police (DIG) Sushil Kumar Bhandari, has arrived in Kavre on Thursday, to investigate the incident.
Kavre Police Chief SP Rabiraj Khadka informed that the probe team under the coordination of DIG Purna Chandra Joshi will reach the accident site at Mandandeupur Municipality-6 in Kavre district, and conduct further investigation.
The police formed a probe team after finding that the circumstances in which the accident occurred, were ‘suspicious.’
On October 27, DIG Bhandari, journalist Jiban Parajuli of Mandandeupur-4 and Nepal Trade Union Congress Chairman Binod Karki of Namobuddha Municipality-10 had died in the crash. Three others, including the driver, Pradip Bogati, were injured in the crash.
Following the accident, Bogati had said the jeep (Ba 3 Cha 287) skidded off the road and plunged as he tried to avert high tension electricity line.
However, a team comprising of Chief District Officer Krishna Bahadur Raut, SP Khadka and representatives from Federation of Nepali Journalists, who visited the incident site on Sunday, found that the person driving the vehicle was ‘careless’ to jump the road lane as the vehicle would not have touched the high tension electricity line in any manner.
