Nepal Communist Party (NCP) senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal has said that corruption has flourished in the country because of the political leaders.
Speaking at a programme organised in Ghorahi of Dang on Tuesday, leader Nepal remarked that it has been difficult to establish good governance in the country as some leaders are protecting corrupt government staffers.
“The staffers are taking bribe on various pretexts. They do not move a single file without taking money,” he said, adding, “The staffers can’t dare to take bribe on their own unless they are protected by the leaders. The country is ruined because of corruption and lack of patriotism.”
He said the formulation of laws and the process for their implement have been delayed due to corrupt civil servants.
“Civil employees are lazy. They don’t work properly,” he said. “The government should take stern step to curb corruption,” said the former prime minister.
He was of the view that the government should work according to the expectations of the people as they have more trust on this government.
Leader Nepal said that the government should carry out works in such a way that it can rule the country for 10 years.
