Responding to queries put forth by lawmakers at the Parliament’s State Management and Good Governance Committee, Minister Thapa said that the spike in rape incidents is due to the prevalence of capitalist agents and absence of self-sustaining economy.
“Capitalism presents women as objects to earn money. This trend can be seen in the USA and India as well,” said Minister Thapa, “We have to bring down the social-economic foundation and the government alone cannot control this. People should be alert against such trends.”
During today’s meeting, the parliamentary committee members asked the Home Minister that even though there is a strong government why it has failed to curb incidents of murder, violence, rape among others.
To which, the Home Minister defended the government by arguing that such incidents are not new and have occurred in the past.
“It is not that incidents of rape, murder and violence have increased after this government came into power,” said Minister Thapa adding, “There are social reasons behind the occurrence of these incidents.
