Gangster Chakre Milan gets clean-chit in money laundering case

A three-member of bench of Justices Ratna Bahadur Bagchand, Chandiraj Dhakal, and Pramod Kumar Shrestha pronounced the verdict in favor of Chakre Milan and two others this afternoon.
The Department of Money Laundering Investigation (DoMLI) had filed separate cases against five gangsters Chakre Milan, Parshuram Basnet, Ganesh Lama, Deepak Manange and Abhishek Giri at the court on charges of amassing millions of rupees through illegal means on May 20, 2013.
The DoMLI had filed the case against Chakre Milan after he was found to have amassed illegal property worth Rs 70 million. He was doing time in Sundhara-based Central Jail on drug smuggling charges when the case was filed against him.

Manange had already got a clean-chit on the case.
The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of the Nepal Police at the direction of DoMLI prepared the charge-sheet after carrying out investigation in the money laundering case.
During the investigation, police had found land in various place of Kathmandu in the name of Chakre Milan. Police claimed the property was amassed through criminal activities.
The DoMLI had sought a fine of Rs 70 million from Chakre Milan on the case.
