Cold wave and fog over the past few days have greatly affected the daily life in several Tarai districts. 

A man was found dead of suspected hypothermia in Chandrauta, Kapilvastu, on Sunday.

The deceased man, who used to beg for a living, was found dead by locals in the morning.

There is a high chance that he might have died of hypothermia since he was sleeping outside without warm clothes, said Police Inspector Jhabindra Bhattarai.

In Banke, cold wave coupled with dense fog has hit the daily life for the past four days. 

Morning flights at Nepalgunj Airport were disrupted due to poor visibility on Sunday.

Owing to dense fog, vehicles were also seen plying the roads with their headlights on.

Temperature of Banke has continued to dip for the past few days, resulting in severe cold. 

Human activities at market places are significantly low these days due to cold. 

Rita Mahato, chief of Nepalgunj field office of Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, said the temperature plummeted to 6.8 degrees Celsius in Nepalgunj on Sunday. 

The local administration has urged the people in Banke to wrap up warm and try to remain indoors if possible.

Cold wave has also paralysed the daily life in Saptari. Biting cold has mostly affected the people from impoverished communities like Musahar, Dom and Chamar.

Surya Narayan Mandal, chief of Chhinnamasta Rural Municipality, said many children and elderly people from the impoverished communities do not have warm clothes and blankets to stay warm.
