A landslide at Khadkatol, Piskar in Tripura Sundari Rural Municipality of Sindhupalchok district has displaced five families and put the entire village at risk. 

The landslide occurred at 2 am on wee hours of Friday morning.

“The landslide fell all of a sudden at 2 am in the night. We were able to run towards safety in time,” said Tek Bahadur Khadka a landslide-displaced villager, “We are safe but have been left with nothing, how are we to survive now?”

Khadka lost Rs900,000 worth properties including his shop, goats and chickens during the landlside.

The houses spared by the landslide in Thamitol, Mulatol, Khadkatol among other areas in Piskar are also in danger of the landslide, because the area where the village is located has started to sink.

Meanwhile, police personnel have reached the incident site and are conducting rescue operations.

Continuous landslide in the area has also posed the danger to Piskar Secondary School and Sitadevi Adharbhut Vidhyala as the land below the school is sinking fast.
