The government has issued a directive prohibiting the plotting of arable land without permission of the concerned authority.
The government has issued a directive prohibiting the plotting of arable land without permission of the concerned authority.
The directive has been issued as per the Land Act, 2021 BS so as to control increasing plotting of arable land and thereby realise the constitutional guarantee of food security and food sovereignty by increasing productivity, according to information shared at a press meet organised by the Ministry of Land Reforms and Management.
A press statement issued at the conference stated, "The land however would not be subjected to the new directive against plotting in line with the court order and the legal division of the properties among the inheritors."
It underscored that the owner of the land can't divide it into further plots more than once within a single fiscal year for the purpose of sale.
Similarly, any person, firm or company who has taken permission from the concerned body for the plotting and has sold half of the land maintaining demarcation with the public and government land before the issuance of this directive is permitted to sale the remaining land, added the Ministry.
For the implementation of the directive, the 'arable land' is the land with clear categorisation mentioned in the field book and landownership certificate, and the land defined as agricultural land as per Land Survey Regulation 2058 BS. RSS
