Parajuli sworn in as Chief Justice

At a special programme organised at the office of the President in Sheetal Niwas on Monday, President Bidya Devi Bhandari administered the oath of office and secrecy to CJ Parajuli.
The Parliamenary Hearing Special Committee (PHSC) of the Legislature-Parliament on Sunday unanimously approved the name of Parajuli for the post of Chief Justice.
Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, Vice-President Nanda Bahadur Pun, Speaker Onsari Gharti, chiefs of constitutional bodies, judges of the Supreme Court and Chief Secretary, Rajendra Kishor Chhetri, among others, were present on the occasion.
A meeting of the Constitutional Council on June 29 had nominated his name and sent for parliamentary hearing. No complaints were registered against him in the PHSC.
He has been taking the charge of the Supreme Court as the acting chief justice since June 7, 2017.
Born on April 28, 1953 in Tanahun district, Parajuli had practiced law for long and was appointed the Ad-Hoc Justice at appellate court in 1990.
