Dhanusha police arrested 41 leaders and cadres of Rastriya Janata Party-Nepal (RJP-N) on Sunday. Half-a-dozen RJP-N cadres have been injured when police resorted to baton-charge.
Police and the party cadres engaged in confrontation in various place as RJP-N was protesting in various places of Dhanusha including Janakpur sub-metropolis, Janakchowk, Ramchowk, among others, to make their pre-declared general strike a success.
RJP-Nepal leaders injured in the scuffle are Parmeshwor Sah, Sanjay Kumar Singh, Punam Jha, Rita Jha, Kunti Pathak, Sita Chaudhary, among others.
The scuffle occurred after police tried to stop RJP-N cadres from vandalising a signboard of Janakpur sub-metropolitan office and its jeep. The protesters also pelted stones at security personnel, it is learnt.
Dhanusha SP Lal Mani Acharya said a police van has suffered damaged due to the attack from the protesters.
Two police personnel have been injured in the course, Acharya said.
