Nepali Congress senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel has said the local body election must be held in November-December this year.

He also stressed on the need for holding the elections for village executive and municipality as provisioned by the constitution before going for the local body election. Leader Poudel was speaking at a press interaction organised by Nepal Press Union, Chitwan at Bharatpur Airport on Tuesday.

Leader Poudel refuted the rumours that Nepali Congress was not in favour of holding local body elections.

He went on to say that as constitution has been promulgated, NC is more concerned about its implementation rather than acquiring government leadership.

“It is not necessary to assume government leadership for implementing the constitution. As we have lawmakers in the parliament, we are determined to formulate laws from there,” said Poudel.

Expressing his views on whether the incumbent government will continue or not, leader Poudel said the government will remain as long as the current coalition parties can work together.
