Police have arrested two persons in possession of a snow leopard’s hide and its complete skeleton in Darchula district.

Janak Bahadur Shahi was arrested from Rapla on Friday and Kalamram Parki was caught from Susnera on Saturday, police said.

Police made the duo public on Sunday.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sushil Singh Rathour said had trapped and killed the endangered animal in Kalju forest for smuggling purpose.

Shahi and Parki were handed over to the authority of Api-Nampa Conservation Area along with the seized animal parts.   

DSP Rathour said the district police has launched a special mission against smuggling of wildlife parts.
