Local residents have been relieved after the protesters ended their border obstruction four days ago. The SLMM had been staging its protests around Chandranigahapur for about five months.
Morcha leader Ajaya Gupta said they relaxed their border agitation considering public hardships.
“However, our protests will continue [in other forms] until our demands are addressed,” he said. Morcha protesters also had to vacate the no-man’s-land due to the chill at night.
Locals have started bringing in goods from the Indian side of the border as the road has been cleared. Trilochan Sah of Garuda said there are no restrictions now in importing goods from south.
