The children with torn clothes were vying for a proper garment to wear.
Ramesh Chepang, 9, of Yurti in Lothhar, whose half pant was severely ripped, said, “Its winter and we don’t have clothes.” It seemed Ramesh was more worried about the cold than his bareness.
People started to snatch the donated clothes as soon as they were offloaded and Ramesh could not get one that fit him. So he took whatever was available.
People from the area lack proper clothes and beddings which becomes a major problem during the winter season. They have resorted to burning firewood to keep themselves warm while some of the villagers have shifted to caves to beat this year’s winter.
