Mahottari
The cadres of agitating Samyukta Loktantrik Madhesi Morcha (SLMM) have shut markets in Mahottari district on Thursday to protest against the death of an Indian national during a protest in Birgunj on November 2.
The situation in the district which was gradually limping back to normalcy has once again become tense with the market place shut and protests flaring up.
The streets saw burning tyres and smoke clouds today. Agitated by prolonged demonstrations, a resident from Ratbara asked, “Morcha has blocked the borders and closed down shops, how are we going to celebrate Tihar and Chhat now?”
Residents have neither found a satisfactory answer or a viable solution to their question and hardship.
