Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirla has said the constitution amendment proposal registered at the Legislature-Parliament, during the tenure of his government, and the attempt to bring the agitating Madhes-centric parties on board the talks table should be made meaningful.
In a press statement on Friday, the former prime minister expressed his confidence that the current government would work towards achieving results from the efforts initiated by the previous government.
Extending greetings and wishes on the occasion of Bijaya Dashami, NC President Koirala underlined the need for all Nepali people to work wisely and conscientiously in order to keep intact the national unity maintained by cultural festivals.
He added that the experience gained through the process of drafting the new constitution by putting an end to armed conflict would be helpful in managing the Madhes agitation.
“I hope that the new constitution would become the foundation for a lasting peace, political stability, development, peace, happiness and progress of Nepali people,” said Koirala in the statement.
“I wish that goddess Durga grants blessings to all the concerned stakeholders to work wholeheartedly in order to transform Nepal into a capable nation by maintaining the unity, cooperation and consensus among the political parties for the implementation and development of the new federal democratic constitution.”
In the end, the NC president wished a very happy Dashain to all Nepali brothers and sisters.
