India has beefed up security at Nepal-India border point in Bhittamod of Mahottari district on Tuesday. Additional Indian SSB personnel have been deployed in the area. Due to this, the normal movement of people across the border have become uneasy.
SSB have prohibited jeeps, motorcycles and cycles to travel across the border. People walking on foot are allowed to cross the border after security check-up.
SSB Sub-Inspector Ramesh Sharma said the security was increased due to orders from above. “Bihar is conducting election soon in the future,” he said, “Security check has been tightened considering the ongoing unrest on Nepali side.”
Likewise, SSB personnel have also tightened security check at Matihani and Samsi border points.
