Landslides pose threat to several households

Bishal Thapa, a local, said they hardly sleep at night due to fear as there have been several landslides in the neighbouring Damri and Ligha VDCs recently.
Chief District Officer (CDO) Ram Bahadur Kurumba said they are planning to relocate the vulnerable families to safety. “We have identified 11 families who are at high risk. Relocating them to safety is our first priority,” Kurumba said. The District Administration Office had recently mobilised a team to inspect the landslide-risk areas in Khabang.
Landslides have also displaced 12 families at Dhime and Archani VDCs in Jajarkot district. CDO Janardan Gautam said the landslides have swept away half a dozen houses in the VDC. Forty-five houses and 200 ropanis of farmland have also been damaged.
Landslides have also obstructed the transport service in several parts of Sindhuli, Khotang, Solukhumbu, Okhaldhunga, Udayapur and Ramechhap districts.
Man buried alive
Dolakha: Landslide triggered by heavy rainfall buried Bagh Bahadur Tamang, 46, at Khare VDC-1 in Dolakha district on Friday morning. Shanta Bahadur Lama at the District Police Office said the landslide buried Tamang’s house while he was asleep.
