China to help reconstruct Nuwakot
The Chinese government has expressed its willingness to reconstruct earthquake ravaged historical infastructure, including the Nuwakot Durbar in Nuwakot district.Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Wu Chuntai said the Chinese government is eager to help in reconstructing the demolished infrastructures, requesting concerned agencies to submit a proposal of such programmes.
On the occasion of 60 years of China-Nepal diplomatic relations, ambassador Chuntai and Foreign Minister Mahendra Bahadur Pandey inspected the quake affected infrastructure in the district on Sunday. After visiting the Durbar, Trishuli Hospital and Old Age Home, Chuntai assured to help Nepal.
The ambassador, moreover, pledged to reconstruct Nuwakot Durbar, the hospital and Kerung Highway including other historical settlements in the first phase. The process will proceed after discussions with Foreign Minister Pandey and Finance Minister Ram Sharan Mahat the reconstruction process will proceed smoothly, he said.
Pandey also urged neighbouring countries to Nepal in this time of crisis. “Trade deficit of the country is increasing and this may create problem in reconstruction,” said Pandey,” adding that the government should place agriculture sector in top priority and increase production of small industries to minimise the deficit.
The devastating earthquake of April 25 and its aftershocks have damaged Nuwakot Durbar and Trishuli Hospital, including several historical places and schools in the district.
